Welcome To The NEW YEAR…with Nate G/ The Grass IS NOT GREENER!!!!

Welcome to 2012!!! This Year is gonna be an awesome year… I can feel it my bones.

First and foremost:

On 1/1/12 , the homie Nate G dropped a lil EP called “New Years With Nate G”.  Its available at http://www.nategmusic.com the download and its absolutely FREE!

Ok now, for the longest time I’ve been wanting to try Free Birds but I’ve been soooo committed to Chipotle I’ve just kept turning the other way…….UNTIL NOW!!!!!

While I was enjoying the Cowboy game and getting my chill on, the WIFEY decides to say those words a guy hates to hear while watching the game… “Babe- wanna go get us something to eat?”. But, like a  good husband, Phildawg is there (in a State Farm  Commercial Voice). She originally wanted Chipotle, so did I, but unfortunately they were CLOSED!! Sucks- I know- why close at 10:00pm? Don’t they know there’s people out in this world (like me and Nick) who crave food after dinner time!? So, our second option was… Freebirds. I’ve been wanting to eat Freebirds since they built it next to the crib and I finally got my shot. I took one bite and made up mind instantly. As you can see, the burrito wasn’t even half eaten. If it was a Chipotle burrito I wouldn’t even have had time to take a pic. So, my fellow Americans, I say this to you “The Grass Is Not GREENER on the other side.”

We all have had those “What If?” thoughts but sometimes those “What Ifs” have a tendency to not be what we might have expected. If you are the type of person who was brought up in church and have been taught the ways of the Lord for your entire life, you probably have those “I wonder if the grass is greener on the other side” thoughts. I’m gonna go ahead and save you the trouble….its not.

“So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!    So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful naturea slave to the law of sin” Romans 7:21-25.

We know whats right, we know whats needs to be done, but we listen to more of what our flesh wants more than what our spirits needs. Whatever it is you think you want or need, if its not what the Lord wants for you then, my friend, all your doing  is setting yourself up for failure… kinda  like I was when I chose to eat Freebirds instead of just waiting on Chipotle.

We are now in the month of December. It is getting cold outside. Pretty lights go up. Everybody has a huge tree in their house and, most of  all, WalMart gets SUPER PACKED!!! This past weekend, the wifey, my youngest, AJ, and myself decide to fight the crowd of Wally World. Its times like that when I wish I was still a kid. Not because of the toys and all that other good stuff, but just so I can sit in the cart and have everybody push me around.

But this month is not just about presents and pretty ornaments. It is first and foremost about the birth of Jesus Christ and what his soul purpose was for us. This is the time we, as a family, come together and really appreciate whats important in life. Its a time to cherish the ones we love, even though we might get on each others nerves from time to time.

Since I am father of 3 boys, of course, we have to bring the magic of Christmas to the young ones. Now some of ya may not agree with Frosty, Rudolph, the story of Ol’ Saint Nick, and all the other homies,  but hey… its for the kids. Just as long we never let them forget the true meaning Christmas.

Every year, after Thanksgiving, we have a certain little someone who comes to visit us. He stays with us until Christmas Eve before flying back to live with Santa until next November.  I would like to introduce ya to Preston, our Elf on the Shelf.

(Creepy little thing isn’t he?) So, the story goes that Preston is sent from Santa to watch over the kids each day and leaves once they go to sleep. Preston  reports to Santa everything that he saw and whether the kids should be on the Naughty or Nice list.  Every morning, when the kids wake up, Preston is no longer in the same spot that he was the day before. The number one rule about Preston is YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH HIM! (Bummer, I know.) If he is touched then his power goes away and he can’t talk to Santa anymore. (What kind of rule is that? Anyways, you get the idea).

They way my kids get excited about Preston is the same we should be about prayer. Prayer is something that allows you to communicate with God just like Preston does with Santa. “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God may open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; in order that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:2-3.

Instead of praying only when something tragic happens or when you need something, pray on a daily basis. This will allow for the Lord to open doors for you. God will answer, it may not be the answer you want but he does answer. So keep praying guys, God is excited to hear from you. Tell him more than just your wishes.

I’m not saying… I’m just saying.

SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!! phildawgmusic.com is up and running!! It’s not much to look at just yet, but still, Rome wasn’t built in a day. This page is were you can find information about upcoming shows, music, videos, or just stuff I’m doing day to day.

I’m excited  guys! As my first entry, I want to say thanks to all of my peeps for being loyal fans of the World Rocka Fam. 2012 is going to be a blessed year. I pray that everybody out there is doing well and that God continues to bless you all. Feel free to comment on any topic that will be covered.
